Ship Rock, located on the Navajo lands in the four corners region, is one of the most mystifying formations to be found in a bonafide mecca of geologic marvels.

This is my second painting of this sacred formation, after a smaller study completed earlier this year. This larger and richer interpretation features some of the Ancestral Puebloan symbols found in the pictographs and petroglyphs of the desert Southwest. I was inspired by artist Ray Roberts and by not only the geologic story told by Ship Rock, but by the long and storied Indigenous history with this place.
