"Overcast in Augusta"

This painting holds a special place in my heart. Driving West out of Richmond has held adventure and excitement for me for the past several years.

One grey and cold Saturday, I filed into a passenger van with a host of other college students. I was sitting next to a man I barely knew, but would fall in love with in the weeks to come.

We passed this barn and it caught my eye. This painting looks desaturated and worn, but feels like a new beginning to me. Something tender and new amongst the seemingly forgotten.
