This piece was included in the Whale Foundation Wing Ding 2022 auction. It was an honor and a pleasure to be selected as the Whale Foundation’s featured artist this year and an even greater pleasure to support the river guiding community so close to my heart.

The view downstream from Nankoweap is such an iconic vista, and for good reason. The gentle S-curves of the Colorado river, the rock layers of Grand Canyon, and the vast human and ecological history of the area are all equally on display. I’ve been wanting to paint this scene since I first hiked up to the granaries, and it felt fitting to finally get around to it for the Whale Foundation.
